Italy extradites to Germany far-right member accused of coup d’état

ROME, Dec 21 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — A court in the Italian city of Perugia has authorized the extradition to Germany of Maximilian Eder, 64, former German Armed Forces officer arrested in an operation against Citizens of the Reich, a right-wing extremist organization that sought to overthrow the German government.    

The Court spokesperson said in a statement that judges approved the request of the German district attorney´s office, which will prosecute Elder for his alleged involvement in the plot.

The Perugia District Attorney´s Office, on the other hand, announced that, as a result of the court’s decision, Elder, arrested on Dec 9, has already been ordered to be handed over to German authorities.

During the hearing, the accused acknowledged he opposed the German government and was a politician persecuted for his right-wing ideas, but said that he is not a member of any criminal organization. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
