Iranian Navy Prevented U.S. Cruisers From Entering Gulf: Commander

TEHRAN, Dec 13 (NNN-TASNIM) – A top Iranian commander revealed a naval encounter between the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and two U.S. cruisers, near the Gulf, a week ago, it was reported yesterday.

During the encounter, on Dec 5, Iran’s Shahid Rouhi high-speed and missile-launching assault boat, succeeded in preventing the U.S. cruisers from entering the Gulf, IRGC Navy Commander, Alireza Tangsiri said, at an event to commemorate Iranian martyrs.

The homegrown vessel is capable of hitting targets with missiles within a range of 300 km, Tangsiri added.

The Iranian armed forces, forced the Americans to sail along the routes Iran has allowed in the Gulf, he noted.– NNN-TASNIM
