COLOMBO, Dec 11 (NNN-XINHUA) – The remittances sent by Sri Lankan foreign workers abroad, increased to 384.4 million U.S. dollars in Nov, the highest amount of monthly remittances since Sept, 2021, according to the latest statistics released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
Accordingly, the total remittances in the first 11 months of the year are 3.313 billion dollars, which is still a 35.9 percent drop, compared to the same period in 2021.
The CBSL said that, foreign remittances have increased steadily in the past few months, due to monetary policies and growing trust in the system.
It also said, Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets were at 1.8 billion dollars, out of which 1.7 billion dollars were foreign currency reserves, until the end of Nov.– NNN-XINHUA
