LIMA, Dec 10 (NNN-ANDINA) — President Dina Boluarte called on political forces to govern jointly so as to shape the development of a country offering equal opportunities and serving the most disadvantaged.

Boluarte participated in the ceremony to commemorate Peruvian Army Day at the Army Headquarters in Lima’s San Borja district.

During her speech, the Head of State indicated that “it is now or never” because Peru “cannot stop.”

In this sense, the top official affirmed that by standing united as the victors at the Battle Ayacucho “we will be able to provide a dignified, great, and heroic nation with stability, growth, and tranquility.”

“For our children, for those who come and those who will come; let us govern together in order to shape a country also for the ‘nobodies’ who —like everyone else— yearn for development, equal opportunities, and so that through work and understanding, we will be able to move forward,” she expressed.

Likewise, the President called for leaving behind the chapters marked by confrontation and bickering that had not brought anything positive to Peru, when the population demanded consensus and agreements.

Similarly, Boluarte specified that, joined by the Armed Forces, democratic groups, grassroots organizations, organized civil society and ordinary citizens, it will be possible to achieve the progress of the peoples through dialogue and close coordination.

“Our Nation is firm, strong, and secure thanks to its Armed Forces, which guarantee that we live in order, respecting the Constitution, the rule of law, the balance of powers, which they recovered after a failed adventure, which must remain in the country’s memory so that history does not repeat itself,” she underlined.

Furthermore, the President recognized the sacrifice made by Peruvian Army members, not only in terms of security, defense, and national sovereignty but also in supporting the development of the peoples through their work with brigades and engineering corps.

Moreover, she pointed out that the greatest commitment that each citizen has to their homeland is not only to honor it but also to defend it with heart and soul —as it happened in Pampa de la Quinua, Ayacucho, on Dec 9, 1824.

“(…) where, with bravery, courage, and effort, they defeated the royalist forces that refused to leave the power to which they had subdued us; this act of unity, of struggle, and heroism definitively sealed the independence of the entire Latin America,” she added.

As is known, Boluarte officially became President of the Republic last Wednesday after ex-President Pedro Castillo was constitutionally impeached and removed from office by Parliament. — NNN-ANDINA
