LIMA, Dec 9 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported that the number of confirmed mpox cases in Peru has risen to 3,566.
In a tweet on Wednesday evening, Minsa stated that cases were reported in Metropolitan Lima (2,729), Callao (239), La Libertad (159), Arequipa (146), Piura (48), Lambayeque (43), Lima Provinces (43), Ica (34), San Martin (24), Ucayali (24), Cusco (15), Loreto (13), Ancash (12), Tacna (10), Junin (9), Madre de Dios (6), Huanuco (5), Cajamarca (3), Moquegua (1), Puno (1), Ayacucho (1), and Tumbes (1).
Minsa reported 3,444 hospital discharges. Besides, all patients received medical care and are being monitored, as contacts are identified.
Meanwhile, the number of citizens infected with COVID-19 rose to 4,330,521 and the death toll stood at 217,566 in Peru as of Dec 6, Minsa reported.
Within this framework, 6,657 cases were detected and 8 people passed away due to the virus on the analyzed day.
32,417,230 samples tested negative for COVID-19 —out of a total of 36,747,751.
It must be noted that 4,159,791 people have been discharged and declared healthy. Other 730 were hospitalized.
Minsa also reported that 86,183,013 doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 have been so far administered in Peru.
Out of that total, 25,775,749 were given as second dose, thus accounting for 90.19% of the target population. Within this framework, 21,044,370 citizens have been vaccinated with a third dose.
They also account for 73.63% of the general population, the leading government authority in the health sector said in its daily report.
Similarly, 6,017,516 people have received the fourth dose, thus accounting for 24.10% of the goal. — NNN-ANDINA
