CARICOM-Cuba Summit calls to strengthen unity of Caribbean Nations

BRIDGETOWN (Barbados), Dec 7 (NNN-ACN) — The 8th Caricom-Cuba Summit adopted the Declaration of Bridgetown expressing the joint willingness of Caribbean nations to further strengthen their relationship and the commitment to search for creative solutions in the benefit of their peoples, said Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

On his Twitter account, https://bit.ly/3Fwg5IR the First Secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party used the hashtag #SomosCAribe to refer to the close of the summit of the Caribbean Community and Cuba, which took place Tuesday at Barbados’ Conventions Center.

Diaz-Canel also wrote about the mutual compromise of Caricom and Cuba to keep implementing the projects already underway and add new actions to expand and diversify their relations on the basis of solidarity and collaboration.

The Declaration of Bridgetown rejects the imposition of unilateral coercive measures and calls to the immediate end with no conditions of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, wrote Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on his Twitter account.

President Diaz-Canel arrived Monday in Barbados on an official visit to take part at the Caricom-Cuba summit as part of a Caribbean tour that has included Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and will end up in Grenada.

Cuban authorities consider that these forums allow the strengthening of bonds of friendship between Cuba and other Caribbean Island nations as well as cooperation in different fields of economy.

The Cuban delegation is made up of the Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez and the ministers of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca; Health, Jose Angel Portal; Science, Technology and the Environment, Elba Rosa Perez; and the president of the BioCubaFarma Biotech conglomerate Eduardo Martinez, among other officials. — NNN-ACN
