PYONGYANG, DPRK, April 13 (NNN-KCNA) – Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), said, he is willing to meet the U.S. president again, on certain conditions.
Kim made the remarks in his policy speech, marking the First Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) on Friday, a day before he was re-elected as chairman of the DPRK’s State Affairs Commission (SAC).
“If the United States adopts a correct posture and comes to the third DPRK-U.S. summit with a certain methodology that can be shared with us, we can think of holding one more (round of) talks,” Kim said.
“It is necessary for both sides not to table their unilateral demands but find out a constructive solution to meet each other’s interests.”
The top leader said, he will “wait for a bold decision” from Trump “with patience till the end of this year.”
In his speech, Kim blamed the United States for only considering its own interests, during the second DPRK-U.S. Summit in Vietnam’s Hanoi this Feb. This has led the DPRK to question Trump’s willingness to improve relations with the DPRK.
Kim, while stressing the importance of solving problems through dialogue and negotiations, also underlined that he does not accept “the American style of dialogue” which imposes the United States’ unilateral demands upon its dialogue partner.
Kim said, the United States is hinting at holding a third DPRK-U.S. Summit, but what happened in Hanoi “is not inviting” to the DPRK.
However, Kim also mentioned his good relations with Trump. “As President Trump keeps saying, the personal ties between me and him are not hostile like relations between the two countries and we still maintain good relations.”
At the end of the speech, Kim said, he hoped that the United States would decide wisely and that the confrontation between the two countries will be brought to a complete stop.– NNN-KCNA
