ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (NNN-APP) – Pakistani President, Arif Alvi, yesterday appointed Lieutenant General Asim Munir, as the country’s new chief of army staff, the media wing of the President’s Secretariat said, in a statement.
According to the statement, the president promoted Munir to the rank of General with immediate effect, who will assume office as the new army chief from Nov 29, 2022.
Munir will replace outgoing Army Chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who will retire on Nov 29.
Alvi also appointed Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, who was promoted to the rank of General with immediate effect, as chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee, with effect from Nov 27, added the statement.– NNN-APP
