QUITO, Nov 24 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Ecuadoran President Guillermo Lasso reduced the curfew hours as of Wednesday in the three provinces where the state of emergency is still in force, due to acts of violence.
Through executive decree 601, the president determined that as of Wednesday in Guayas, Esmeraldas, and Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas the measure will not begin at 23:00 hours, but at 01:00, and will be extended until 05:00.
According to the president, the decision is justified by a ‘reduction in criminal acts,’ although he warned that authorities will maintain rigid controls to safeguard the safety of all.
On Nov 1, Lasso established a state of emergency following a series of bombings perpetrated by drug gangs.
Later, in response to claims of economic damages as a consequence of the restriction of movement, the executive relaxed the measure. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
