SYDNEY, Nov 22 (NNN-AAP) – The Australian Federal Police (AFP), today said in a statement that, a Western Sydney man, aged 29, has been charged with allegedly importing 281 kg of liquid methamphetamine, that was hidden inside olive oil.
According to the statement, the man is expected to face court today, charged with importing and attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border controlled drug, namely methamphetamine.
The estimated wholesale value of the methamphetamine is approximately 39 million Australian dollars (about 25 million U.S. dollars).
In July, an AFP-led squad, located and seized the drug, after it was discovered on a truck in the Sydney suburb of Fairfield.
The following investigation linked the 29-year-old suspect to the shipment. The police force executed a search warrant at the man’s home in Sept, and seized a number of phones and a computer for further examination.
The AFP said that, the man is related to a transnational organised crime group, involved in the facilitation of drug importations.– NNN-AAP
