Cuba and Russia committed to strengthening economic ties

MOSCOW, Nov 22 (NNN-ACN) — The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Cuban Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and the vice president of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, ratified in Moscow the common will to seek ways to strengthen economic relations and expand political dialogue.

Upon receiving the Cuban head of state, Medvedev thanked him for his official visit to his country and affirmed that sanctions against Cuba and Russia cannot hinder economic cooperation between the two countries and the links between the parties.

According to information from the Cuban Presidency, the Russian authority highlighted the friendly ties that have united both nations for decades.

For his part, Diaz-Canel expressed his satisfaction for being in Russia, and conveyed a warm hug from Army General Raul Castro Ruz.

Since Nov 19, a high-level Cuban delegation arrived in Russia on an official visit that will last until Nov 22, and whose agenda includes talks with President Vladimir Putin, with authorities of the Parliament and the Party.

According to the Cuban leader, the program planned for the visit responds to Cuba’s political and economic priorities, as well as to the efforts to mitigate the effects of the post-pandemic crisis affecting the whole world, which in the case of the island is aggravated by the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States. — NNN-ACN
