NEW DELHI, Nov 22 (NNN-PTI) – At least three people, all women, died, and four others were injured, when a goods train derailed in India’s eastern state of Odisha, yesterday, confirmed a spokesman for Indian Railway, over the phone.
The mishap occurred in Odisha’s Jajpur district, at about 06:44, when eight wagons of the goods train derailed at Korai station and fell onto the platform, according to the spokesman.
The derailment occurred due to sudden brakes applied by the train driver, added the spokesman.
The incident resulted in the cancellation or delay of over 20 trains, while nearly 20 other trains were diverted through alternative routes.– NNN-PTI
