Death Toll In Fire In Central Moscow Rises To Six

MOSCOW, Nov 21 (NNN-Xinhua) — Six people died Sunday in a huge fire that broke out in a flower warehouse on the Komsomolskaya Square, downtown Moscow. The six victims had yet to be identified.

Russia’s TASS news agency said the fire broke out in a flower warehouse at roughly 3 pm Moscow time, and was put out nine hours later.

The fire was caused by improper storage of goods and violation of fire safety rules, said TASS, citing the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Seven people were evacuated from the warehouse as the flame partially destroyed floor structures between the building’s first and second floors.

According to a preliminary version, a malfunctioning electric heater and a power shutdown could have caused the fire, the emergencies official said. — NNN-XINHUA
