TEHRAN, Nov 19 (NNN-IRNA) – An Iranian intelligence officer was killed in a stabbing attack, in the western Iranian city of Sahneh yesterday, according to local authorities.
The officer, identified as Nader Beirami, was in charge of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) intelligence service in the city, semi-official Tasnim news agency reported, citing the IRGC intelligence service, in the western province of Kermanshah.
He was stabbed in the heart, when trying to protect a pedestrian, unarmed, against thugs during unrest in the city, said the report, adding, the stabbers were some “mutineers” who had instigated violence and riots during an event in commemoration of a local artiste.
Confirming the report, Sahneh’s Governor, Jahanbakhsh Zanganeh-Tabar said, those involved in the attack were immediately arrested by security forces.– NNN-IRNA
