Peru: Kenji Fujimori sentenced to 4 years, 6 months in prison in Mamani case

LIMA, Nov 17 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian Supreme Court’s Special Criminal Chamber sentenced former legislators Kenji Fujimori, Guillermo Bocangel, and Bienvenido Ramirez to four years and six months in prison for the crime of aggravated influence peddling linked to the Mamani Videos case.

Likewise, the compensation will rise to S/ 500,000 (around US$129,533), which must be paid jointly among those sentenced.

The Supreme Court suspended the execution of the sentence until the appeal is resolved at second instance, so that the sentence is final and granted. However, rules of conduct are dictated until then.

According to the Public Ministry, they are charged with having offered a number of public works to the late former lawmaker Moises Mamani, in exchange for his vote to avoid the impeachment process against former President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski.
