Brunei’s Inflation Index Increased By 4.3 Percent In Sept

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Nov 10 (NNN-ANN) – Brunei’s overall consumer price index (CPI) in Sept, grew by 4.3 percent year-on-year, the second highest hike after Aug, in at least a year, the latest statistical figures released yesterday showed.

According to the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the CPI rise was in line with the increase in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, and Non-Food indices by 6.7 percent and 3.7 percent, respectively.

The data showed, growth in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages component was driven by prices of meat (12.8 percent), rice and cereals (4.9 percent) and oil and fats (25.7 percent).

For period-on-period, the overall CPI from Jan to Sept, 2022, registered a gain of 3.8 percent, compared to the same period last year.

CPI is a measure of price changes of goods and services paid by the consumer, in a specified period.– NNN-ANN
