LIMA, Nov 10 (NNN-ANDINA) — President Pedro Castillo highlighted the work undertaken jointly by private companies and the Peruvian State to fulfill the great mission of promoting Peruvian export companies —namely micro and small enterprises.
Participating in the ceremony to celebrate Exporters’ Day at Lima Convention Center, he reaffirmed the objectives of a trade policy boosted by the Government, which promotes economic growth, generates jobs, as well as reduces production costs and improves competitiveness to achieve development in Peru.
“I want to salute the work undertaken by our businesspeople and the State, through Mincetur (Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism) and PromPeru (Peru’s Exports and Tourism Promotion Board), to fulfill a great mission: to promote the internationalization of Peruvian export companies, especially of our micro and small companies, and to boost the diversification of markets,” he expressed.
Similarly, Castillo indicated that Peruvian shipments abroad exceeded US$56 billion in 2021, thanks to the participation of 8,553 exporting companies which brought their offer abroad consisting of 4,805 products, conquering 170 markets on five continents.
“For many months, we fought the hardest side of the (COVID-19) pandemic, adapting to a new reality. We had to reinvent ourselves with a view to foreign trade; our exporters adapted their offer, logistics, and their way of doing business, so that their products continue to conquer the world. Here, as Peruvians, we prove that opportunities are not only sought but created,” he indicated.
The top official reminded attendees that Peru is the world’s leading exporter of blueberries and asparagus, in addition to being present through gastronomy and other products which represent every region of this country.
“Today, I must say that this progress would not be possible without the joint work by public and private organizations. In this sense, by celebrating Exporters’ Day, I want to express my gratitude for that goodwill and my tribute to farmers; micro, medium and large entrepreneurs, who are an example of effort and dedication,” he affirmed.
Furthermore, the President stressed that this solid performance of Peruvian exports is not the result of chance in a difficult scenario, but because in 2021 Peru was the country with the highest economic growth in Latin America.
He added that it generates confidence in investors, as well as offers legal stability and clear rules to them.
Moreover, Castillo reiterated that he had held a conversation with Brazil’s President-elect, Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, and urged businesspeople to take a look at the peoples of the Amazonia. — NNN-ANDINA
