Cuba to host Caribbean States Cooperation Conference



HAVANA, Nov 9 (NNN-ACN) — The 6th International Cooperation Conference of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) will be held in Havana Thursday and Friday, under the central theme “The Greater Caribbean, building bridges of transformation and innovation towards a future of sustainable progress”.

According to the foreign ministry, the meeting aims to be a favorable scenario for the exchange between representatives of member states, associates and observers of the association, with the purpose of promoting north-south, south-south cooperation around the strategic lines of the Plan of Action 2022 – 2028 approved by this international organization.

During the exchanges, the aim is to stimulate the mobilization of resources for development cooperation, building regional projects, with the intention of generating new dynamics in the economic, social, cultural, environmental and technological-digital fields, the text reads.

It is also expected to promote resilience, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, seeking to improve the quality of life of the peoples that make up the Greater Caribbean.

The ACS, constituted in July 1994, is a scenario of effective articulation based on approaches of solidarity, mutual respect and the preservation of peace, in line with the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, unanimously approved at the second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States in 2014. — NNN-ACN
