WARSAW, Nov 8 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Poland’s foreign minister signed an official note to Germany requesting the payment of about 1.3 trillion euros in reparations for the damage incurred by occupying Nazi Germans during World War II.

We´re preparing feature films and a large-scale global media operation on this subject, said Jarosław Aleksander Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice party.

According to Kaczynski, the world does not understand how the war and occupation in Poland differ from the situation in other countries. Warsaw would officially demand reparations from Germany, which include human losses: each person who died during the WWII should be compensated with 800,000 zlotys ($170,300).

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, on the other hand, signed a diplomatic note in October calling for war reparations from Germany.

On Sept 1, the 83rd anniversary of the German invasion of Poland, a parliamentary report was published on Poland´s losses as a result of the German attack and 1939-1945 occupation.

The reparation amount totals 6,220,609,000,000 zlotys (about 1.3 trillion euros).

The German government repeatedly indicated there are no reasons for any payment, since in 1953 Poland officially rejected reparations.

Warsaw claimed the agreement referred only to the former German Democratic Republic and the People’s Republic of Poland. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
