RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 8 (NNN-Xinhua) — Four members and a friend of a family were killed and a teenager still missing after a minibus fell into the Amazon River on Monday in north Brazil’s Para state, local media reported.
The minibus heading to the city of Santarem was preparing to board a ferry to cross the river when it rolled into the river, authorities told local media.
On the minibus were 11 people: the driver along with eight passengers fell into the river, two managed to escape and an adolescent is still missing.
The minibus driver reportedly forgot to activate the parking brake, leading to the tragedy, according to local media. — NNN-XINHUA
