IOI Water For Life Provides 172 Orang Asli Families With Access To Clean Water

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 4 (Bernama) — IOI Properties Group (IOIPG) launched its ‘IOI Water For Life’ project in July 2021. It was conceptualised in line with the Group’s Strategic Themes of Changing Mindsets and Urban Green and in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 6 and 17. The project, in collaboration with Pertubuhan Komuniti Elite, was aimed at providing portable water filters to communities that do not have access to treated or clean water.

‘IOI Water For Life’ represents the Group’s commitment to address the challenges of water security among underserved communities in Malaysia. Hence, in collaboration with our business associates, we contributed the water filters to those communities that do not have access to piped water and rely on untreated water sources such as wells, ponds and rivers. The consumption of contaminated water can cause diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery and typhoid. Therefore, water security plays an important role in the health and well-being of any community. Furthermore, the quality and sustainability of water resources are critical to the survival of people and the planet. IOIPG has since provided these filters to a few villages, namely Kampung Orang Asli Gunung Arung in Endau, Johor; Kampung Orang Asli Pasir Salam in Ulu Tiram, Johor; and Kampung Chemomoi in Pahang.
