BERLIN (Germany), Nov 4 (NNN-ANDINA) — In joint work to face climate change, Peruvian Environment Minister Wilbert Rozas signed the final act of the Intergovernmental Negotiations on Development Cooperation between the Governments of the Republic of Peru and the Federal Republic of Germany.

The bilateral agreement titled Alliance for Climate “is a step in the process of implementing our measures for adaptation and mitigation of climate change,” the government official emphasized.

He stressed that there is a commitment to protect forests, rivers, the Amazonia, and glaciers. It includes the commitment to Andean and Amazonian citizens, peoples, and communities.

“Our special attention is there,” he stressed.

Rozas mentioned that despite the difference in problems and solutions, “when we sign this agreement, we have in common the same hopes and possibilities, and that makes us understand each other better.”

Within this framework, he emphasized that recent days have been characterized by great effort of technocrats who have come to Berlin —both from the Minam, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, as well as from the Ministries of TransportationEconomy-FinanceHousing, among others.

Rozas participated in meetings that seek to strengthen cooperation ties with German scientists who investigate climate change and its impacts on populations, as well as to explore future opportunities for Peru within the framework of the International Climate Initiative (Internationale Klimaschutzinitiative).

Concerning sustainable urban development, drinking water-sanitation, and transportation focused on compliance with the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Germany showed interest in continuing to support solid waste management in coastal cities so as to reduce marine pollution. — NNN-ANDINA
