NEW DELHI, India, April 11 (NNN-PTI) – At least eight people were killed today (Thursday), when a fast moving car rammed into a stationary truck, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.
The accident took place on the Agra-Lucknow expressway, at Fatehabad area, in Agra district, about 299 km west of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh.
“This morning, a speeding car carrying passengers rammed into the back of a truck on the expressway, killing six people on the spot and injuring two others,” a police official said. “The injured were rushed to the nearest hospital but they succumbed to their injuries there too,” the police official said.
According to police, the victims were on their way from Jaunpur to Agra city.
“We have registered a case in this regard and ordered an investigation,” the police official said.
Deadly road accidents are common in India, often caused by overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving.
Officials say that, an average of over 400 deaths take place every day in India, due to road accidents.– NNN-PTI
