LIMA, Nov 3 (NNN-ANDINA) — The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo led a new session of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. As usual, the Head of State was joined by Cabinet Chief Anibal Torres and other State ministers.

This meeting started at 8:30 a.m. (local time) at the Government Palace in Lima.

Meanwhile, Castillo has requested Parliament authorization to travel abroad, from Nov 14 to 21, to attend the 29th Economic Leaders’ Meeting at the APEC Forum and related events in Bangkok, Thailand.

The request was made through a draft legislative resolution recently submitted to the Legislative Branch.

Said document was joined by an official letter addressed to Congress’ Chairman, Jose Williams Zapata, detailing that the main challenges for the Asia-Pacific region, such as global economic recession, disruptions in supply chains, plus food and energy security, will be discussed at the APEC Leaders’ Meeting on Nov 18 and 19.

Besides, the Head of State plans to participate in the APEC Business Summit, on Nov 17, and meet with business associations from the bloc to present the opportunities offered by Peru for investment.

Similarly, bilateral meetings with the attending Heads of State and Government are being arranged.

“The participation of the Government of Peru, at the highest level, in these international meetings will allow our country to consolidate its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and in its economic integration mechanisms,” the document read.

It also underlined that all of this will contribute to the preparation process for the APEC Presidency to be assumed by Peru in 2024.

Separately, the top official greeted Chota province, Cajamarca region, for its 470th anniversary.

“Chota, heroic land of AKunta and cradle of Peru’s farming community patrols, celebrates its 470th anniversary,” Castillo expressed on his official Twitter account.

“I convey my affectionate greetings to Chota citizens because, on a day like today in 1552, the Spanish foundation of this beloved city under the name of ‘All Saints’ was held,” he highlighted. — NNN-ANDINA
