SANTO DOMINGO, Oct 30 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Ministers of Environment and Energy from Central America and the Dominican Republic ratified their commitment to the energy transition to renewable energy sources.

In a press release, the Ministry of Environment announced that at a meeting headed by the Minister of Environment of the Dominican Republic and pro tempore President of the Central American Commission of Environment and Development, Miguel Ceara, the strategies to develop an intersectoral agenda on this important issue were presented.

Among the specific goals of the plan are: determining the sectoral work areas that will be part of the intersectoral agenda on environment and energy; approving a roadmap specifying the actions and times needed to build the intersectoral agenda; and promoting dialogue to coordinate regional work.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Energy and Mines Antonio Almonte, who stressed that the development of proposals that combine environmental and energy efforts will benefit their peoples and will modernize the economic structure of the nations represented here.

From the Dominican Republic, we want to strengthen this open line of dialogue and we believe that the groups of experts devoted to taking care of these intersectoral ties will create or consolidate the appropriate mechanisms of cooperation, he added.

Finally, he said that it is important to highlight that year after year natural phenomena are intensifying due to climate change, such as droughts and high temperatures, which together bring about other catastrophes. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
