GUATEMALA CITY, Oct 29 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — GUATEMALA´s Public Health and Social Assistance Ministry (MSPAS) confirmed 14 new cases of monkeypox, bringing total figure to 88.    

This is the highest number since the first patient was reported on Aug 3.

The new monkeypox cases are men aged 20 to 48, mostly residing in the department of Guatemala (13) and one in Santa Rosa.

According to MSPAS, the new cases reported symptoms between Oct 14 and 23. All of them are at-home screened and being monitored by professionals.

So far, the epidemiological research found that these patients are not related to each other or to previously screened cases.

Health authorities indicated that 148 cases were studied and four remain as possible positive cases.

According to Friday´s report, 43 patients have already recovered, having been symptom-free for 30 days.

SAN SALVADOR: There are more than 15,000 suspected cases of dengue fever in EL SALVADOR, authorities from the Public Health Ministry (Minsal) reported on Friday.    

The institution revealed the existence of 15,419 cases of which only 57 were confirmed as affected by the disease that has in the capital department the largest number of sick and suspected cases.

The information distributed through the Epidemiological Bulletin number 41 is valid until Oct 15, and according to which out of the confirmed cases, 13 patients are seriously ill and 44 with alarm signs, while there are 38 probable cases of the disease.

The Minsal data noted that the number of suspected cases is higher than the same stage of the previous year with 4,323 cases and remind that in the country in 2019, 23,344 dengue fever patients were registered. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
