Peruvian exports up 13.1% in Jan-Aug 2022

LIMA, Oct 19 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian exports experienced an increase of 13.1% (US$42.467 billion) between January and August this year compared to the same period in 2021, mainly due to a better performance of agribusiness and hydrocarbons, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) said on Tuesday.

Although, according to Adex, eight sectors have not exceeded their historic highs.

For example, traditional agriculture has not reached its historic high set in January-August 2021 (US$780 million). 
Similarly, primary fishing and traditional mining have not reached their historic highs set in January-August last year (US$1.919 billion and US$24.010 billion, respectively).

The other sectors that have not reached historic highs are textile, clothing, fishing for direct human consumption, wood and various.

The president of Adex, Julio Perez, insisted on his request to create a predictability framework to build confidence in order to resume long-term private investment.

The exporters association states that the analysis of the monthly data shows that Peruvian exports grew in January (20.9%), February (28.1%), March (20.7%), April (14.1%), June (21.5%), and August (5.6%), but fell in May (1%) and July (0.9%). — NNN-ANDINA
