BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 19 (NNN-ANN) – Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is hosting the 5th Computational Intelligence in Information Systems (CIIS 2022), International Conference, organised by the School of Computing and Informatics (SCI).
The three-day virtual conference began on Oct 17, and will end today. The opening ceremony was held yesterday via Zoom.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education, Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.
UTB Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, as the Honorary Chair and Advisor of CIIS 2022, gave the opening remark.
This was followed by a speech from Chief Advisor and Acting Executive Director of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Project for ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net), Professor Emeritus Dr Ueda Tamon.
Two keynote speeches were presented, first by Professor Abdullah Gani from University Malaysia Sarawak titled ‘Virtual Citizen for Border Crossing Control.’ He discussed the concept of Virtual Citizen and its architecture in addressing the issue of border crossing control.
Professor Miura Jun from Toyahashi University of Technology, Japan, presented ‘Dataset issues in applying deep learning to robotics,’ where he spoke about the recent attempts to solve the dataset issues of Deep Learning (DL) technologies.
The ceremony concluded with a promotional session by the AUN-SEED-Net, led by JICA Project for AUN/SEED-Net Senior Project Officer, Sarunphak Kittivorapoom.
The CIIS 2022 conference also features prominent speakers in the field, including Prof Ts Dr Zuriati Ahmad Zukarnain from Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University Putra Malaysia, where she spoke about security and privacy in cloud-based e-health system.
Others include Professor Joarder Kamruzzaman from Federation University Australia, who will be presenting today on ‘Machine learning in cyber-security application.’– NNN-ANN
