Turkish Drone Strike Killed Two PKK Militants In N. Iraq

BAGHDAD, Oct 19 (NNN-NINA) – Two militants of Türkiye’s Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were killed yesterday, in a Turkish drone strike, in Iraq’s northern province of Nineveh, the Counter-Terrorism Service of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region said in a statement.

At 8:20 p.m. (1720 GMT), a Turkish drone bombarded a vehicle carrying PKK militants, in the town of Sinjar, some 100 km west of Nineveh’s provincial capital, Mosul, killing a PKK local leader and a militant, while wounding another militant, it added.

Turkish forces frequently carry out ground operations, airstrikes, and artillery bombardments in northern Iraq, especially the Qandil Mountains, the main base of the PKK.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organisation by Türkiye, the United States and the EU, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for more than three decades.– NNN-NINA
