Another Death Reported In Pakistan As Dengue Fever Cases Keep Rising

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (NNN-APP) – The number of dengue fever cases keeps on rising in Pakistan, as another death was reported in the country.

The death was reported from the southern Sindh province, the provincial health department said, last night.

In the last 24 hours, Sindh reported 312 new infections. The worst-hit area was Karachi, the provincial capital, which reported 249 new cases.

With the newly-reported dengue cases, the Oct figure to date for the province has risen to 2,442, bringing the total local tally to 12,596, this year.

The eastern Punjab province reported 291 new cases in the last 24 hours, the provincial health authorities said yesterday. Punjab’s Rawalpindi city reported 125 new cases, followed by its capital, Lahore, with 98 cases. The total number of dengue cases in Punjab this year has now gone up to 8,661.

In the north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 288 more people were diagnosed with the disease, the provincial health department said, last night. The number of active cases in the province currently stands at 2,597, and the total number of cases this year reached 11,359.

The national capital, Islamabad, reported 108 new cases in the last 24 hours, the health authorities said, last night. The city’s total tally has risen to 3,094 this year.– NNN-APP
