Saharawi representative appeals to the UN over Morocco’s violations

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 8 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The Polisario Front representative at the United Nations, Sidi Mohamed Omar, called on the international community and the UN to take action against Morocco’s violations in Western Sahara.

In a speech at the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, he claimed that the Saharawi people are tired of so many unfulfilled promises and so many resolutions which remain a dead letter.

We urgently demand a resolute position and action by the United Nations and the international community, the diplomat emphasized and assured that they will never give up their right to self-determination and independence.

Moreover, he criticized that the policy of double standards, selectivity and complacency in the face of the logic of force in the international order based on laws represented by the United Nations and which you, as Member States, appreciate and defend, can no longer be tolerated.

The diplomat called on this international organization to live up to its name and its resolutions, because it is time, he said, for this Committee and the UN to translate its decisions into action and to take concrete measures to speed up the decolonization of the last remaining colony in Africa.

The Saharawi representative reiterated the willingness of the Polisario Front to continue to cooperate with the UN and to remain committed to a peaceful and long-lasting solution for the decolonization of Western Sahara. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
