LIMA, Oct 2 (NNN-ANDINA) — Foreign Affairs Minister Cesar Landa affirmed that Peru does not recognize the referendums held in the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, or their intended incorporation into the Russian Federation.
“In accordance with the historical stance of the Peruvian State, in matters of International Law, Peru does not recognize the referendums in the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia, and the intended incorporation into the Russian Federation,” the government official expressed via Twitter.
All hostilities by the Russian Federation should cease and peaceful negotiations should start —in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and International Law.
Moreover, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed in a statement its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine —as established since its birth as an independent State.
“Peru renews its call on the parties involved in this conflict for a cessation of all hostilities and the start of negotiations aimed at finding a peaceful solution, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and International Law,” read a release. — NNN-ANDINA
