LIMA, Sept 29 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Government of Peru and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote digital transformation along the entire tourism chain in the country, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported.
This important announcement was made on Tuesday as part of “World Tourism Day” celebrations.
The signing took place at the Government Palace in Lima and was led by Foreign Trade-Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez and CAF’s North Regional Manager Santiago Rojas.
The head of Mincetur stressed that the signing of this MoU will improve the competitiveness of all stakeholders in the sector, thus promoting economic recovery.
“Digitization and digital transformation pose a great opportunity to make the development of the sector sustainable,” the minister pointed out.
“Today we are taking a firm step. This democratic Government of President Pedro Castillo is committed to national tourism, which offers a great opportunity to highlight the importance of our biodiversity, mega diversity, gastronomy, and craftwork,” he explained.
In this regard, the Cabinet member commented that the tourism industry in Peru has been recovering with 1.3 million foreign tourists have visited the country and expected to reach 1.5 million by the end of this year.
The government official underscored that so far there are more than 900,000 jobs in the tourism sector, which proves its resilience. — NNN-ANDINA
