KUWAIT, April 10 (NNN-KUNA) – The First Conference of the Gulf Health Council, started on Tuesday in Kuwait City, with participation of health officials of Kuwait and other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
At the conference, Kuwaiti Minister of Health, Bassel Al-Sabah, said, one of the sustainable development goals on the country’s 2030 agenda is universal medical coverage, which tackles motherhood welfare, health of the newly born and children, as well as, communicable and non-communicable diseases.
The topics of the conference will be re-examined at a high-level UN meeting on universal health coverage, due in Sept on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, he said.
Sulaiman Al-Dekheel, director general of the GCC health council, said, the conference will address challenges facing sustainable health care, the role of the private sector, the updating of technological means and full care.
According to Ahmed Al-Mandhari, World Health Organisation’s regional director for the Eastern Mediterranean, the main topic of the conference is full health services.
The two-day conference aims at sharing and presenting experiences and research in health area, and discussing the latest concerns and practical challenges in the area.– NNN-KUNA
