MOSCOW, Sept 28 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The Interior Ministry of the Russian republic of Udmurtia strengthened security measures in Izhevsk schools after the shooting that occurred in one of them on Monday.

The mayor’s office of the Izhevsk city today emphasized that troops of the Russian National Guard patrol the educational institutions and the adjacent territories.

According to the note, military and police personnel are also holding briefings with the staff of security companies and checking the functioning of alarms and emergency buttons in schools.

On Monday, a man of about 34, wearing a ski mask and a black T-shirt with Nazi emblem, burst into a school and began shooting indiscriminately, then killed himself.

The head of the Udmurtia republic, Alexander Brechalov, said that the assailant, Artyom Kazantsev, had a record in a neuropsychological dispensary.

According to the latest data, the attack claimed the lives of 17 people, including 11 children, as well as injured 24 other people, including 22 minors.
