LIMA, Sep 28 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru reaffirmed its commitment to achieving the aspiration of a world free of nuclear weapons and the maintenance of international peace and security.
In a tweet, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored that the country, on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, aspires to the elimination of this type of weapons.
“On the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, Peru reaffirms its firm commitment to achieving the universal aspiration of a world free of nuclear weapons and the maintenance of international peace and security,” it stated.
Moreover, the government agency highlighted that it is imperative to ensure that nuclear energy is used exclusively for peaceful purposes.
“We aspire to the complete elimination and prohibition of nuclear weapons, strengthening the international disarmament and non-proliferation regime,” the ministry added. — NNN-ANDINA
