SEOUL, Sept 27 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea reported 39,425 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 24,673,663, the health authorities said today.
The daily caseload was up from 14,168 the previous day, but it was lower than 47,897 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 30,303.
Among the new cases, 308 were imported, lifting the total to 66,350.
The number of infected people who were in serious condition stood at 401, down 26 from the previous day.
Twenty-six more deaths were confirmed, bringing the death toll to 28,272. The total fatality rate was 0.11 percent.– NNN-YONHAP
