UNITED NATIONS, Sept 22 (NNN-ANDINA) — The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, with whom he shares the vision of cooperation and defense of democracy.
Via social media, the Head of State mentioned the importance of boosting food security in Peru for the benefit of its citizens.
“Today, I had the opportunity to talk with Antonio Guterres about agriculture and the importance of fertilizers (urea) for food security in Peru. It is good to know that we share the same social vision, of cooperation and democracy,” Castillo expressed on his official Twitter account.
They also agreed to boost educational digitalization, as well as provide internet to all children and students in Peru.
According to the official Twitter account of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, educational digitalisation was one of the topics discussed at the meeting.
The Peruvian top official has been on an official visit to the United States since Sept 18. He arrived in New York City to participate in the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
The official delegation is also made up of Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Kurt Burneo (Economy-Finance), Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade-Tourism), and Rosendo Serna (Education).
In a separate meeting with the Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary-General Luis Almagro, Castillo discussed the closing of gaps and respect for democracy.
During the meeting, the strengthening of multilateralism to reduce social gaps was addressed, as were dialogue as an instrument for conflict resolution, respect for democracy and governance, for a true sustainable development in the region.
As is known, the city of Lima will host the 52nd General Assembly of the OAS to be held on Oct 5-7. — NNN-ANDINA
