Pakistani Rupee Continued Losing Ground Against USD

ISLAMABAD, Sept 17 (NNN-APP) – Devaluation of the Pakistani rupee against the U.S. dollar continued, as the greenback was being traded at 236.84 rupees in the interbank yesterday, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

The U.S. dollar closed at 235.88 rupees on Thursday, and yesterday opened higher, after the local currency devalued by 0.96 rupees, or about 0.41 percent, the official figures showed.

The dollar, since its recent low of 213.90 rupees, has now gone up by 22.94 rupees.

According to money market analysts, the depreciation of the local currency is taking place due to rising import bill.– NNN-APP
