S.Korea Reported 51,874 New COVID-19 Cases

SEOUL, Sept 16 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea recorded 51,874 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight, compared to 24 hours ago, bringing the total number of infections to 24,316,302, the health authorities said today.

The daily caseload was down from 71,471 in the previous day and lower than 69,399 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 54,633.

Among the newly reported infections, 348 were imported cases, lifting the total to 63,299.

The latest number of infected people who were in a serious condition stood at 516, up 25 from the previous day.

Sixty more deaths were confirmed from the pandemic, taking the death toll to 27,725. The total fatality rate was 0.11 percent.– NNN-YONHAP
