Sri Lanka To Establish Cabinet Subcommittee On Economic Revival

COLOMBO, Sept 14 (NNN-XINHUA) – Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of ministers, approved the establishment of a Cabinet subcommittee on economic revival, Cabinet spokesman, Ramesh Pathirana, said yesterday.

Addressing the media in Colombo, he said that, the subcommittee will be empowered to take swift decisions to revive the country’s economy.

A number of agencies are working on various aspects of economic recovery, and the subcommittee can oversee them and provide strategic guidance, the minister said.

Sri Lankan President, Ranil Wickremesinghe, will chair the subcommittee, and five other ministers, including Prime Minister, Dinesh Gunawardena, will be members of the subcommittee.

Pathirana said that the subcommittee members will also review the public recruitment process and take steps to fill up the vacancies.– NNN-XINHUA
