Peru confirms 1,896 cases of monkeypox

LIMA, Sept 12 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Peruvian health authorities reported 52 new cases of monkeypox, bringing total toll to 1,896 in the country.

The Health Ministry reported that as many as 1,374 patients have already been discharged, and also stressed that all those positive cases are presently treated according to the medical protocols.

Monkeypox virus has been identified in 17 regions of the country, being Metropolitan Lima the region with highest incidence (1,501), followed by Lima Province and Callao, (198 and 121, respectively).

Local health authorities are actively monitoring to identify contact of positive cases. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
