1 killed, 1 wounded in shooting in western Germany

FRANKFURT, Sept 12 (NNN-AGENCIES) — One man was killed and another one was seriously injured in a shooting incident in Offenbach am Main in western Germany on Sunday evening, according to the regional police headquarters.

The victims were gunned down at around 8:18 p.m. local time (1816 GMT) in the downtown of the city, said a police spokesman of the police headquarters of Southeast Hesse, which is located in Offenbach am Main.

The suspected perpetrator is on the run. A large-scale manhunt with a police helicopter is underway, said the police.

A police spokesman Ulrich Braun said an armed response unit was sent to the site Tuesday after reports that a man had entered a hair salon and fired several shots.

He said that on arrival, officers searched the building complex and found two seriously wounded people. He said that the man died shortly afterward, and the woman was being treated.

Braun said that “it’s believed that this may have been a crime of passion.” — NNN-AGENCIES
