Nine Dead, Five Critically Injured In Truck Accident In Myanmar

YANGON, Aug 30 (NNN-MNA) – Nine people were killed and five others critically injured, in a collision between a heavy truck and a light truck in Mandalay region, in central Myanmar, according to the Mandalay Region Police.

The tragedy took place when a 22-wheeler truck, carrying cement bags, and a light truck, carrying 14 passengers, collided on Pyin Oo Lwin bypass road, near a pine forest, a police officer said.

All the dead and injured persons are from the light truck, he said.

Citing the Road Transport Administration Department, state-run Global New Light of Myanmar reported that, there were 4,158 vehicle collisions in the country in the past year, leaving 5,460 injured and 2,075 dead.– NNN-MNA
