RAMALLAH, Aug 21 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, yesterday, condemned Israel’s closure of seven Palestinian non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the West Bank.
Abbas made the remarks in a meeting with the NGOs’ representatives and directors.
On Thursday, the Israeli army stormed the West Bank city of Ramallah and closed these Palestinian NGOs.
Israel has outlawed six of these NGOs, which were labelled as “terrorist” organisations, in Oct, 2021.
Israel said that, the Palestinian NGOs are linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a Palestinian left-wing group.
Al-Haq, a Palestinian human rights association, said, its doors had been welded shut and plastered with an Israeli military order, declaring the organisation “unlawful.”
“The Israeli act of closing Palestinian institutions is rejected, and we will not accept it at all,” Abbas told the NGOs’ representatives and directors.
Abbas accused Israel of adopting a unilateral policy, adding, “Israel is ignoring all agreements signed with the Palestinian sides, and keeping violating international law.”
“We will not accept the continuation of this policy,” he said.
Abbas also told the NGOs’ representatives and directors that, intensive communication was maintained with all parties, in order to put an end to Israeli provocations against Palestinian institutions.– NNN-WAFA
