KABUL, Aug 20 (NNN-ANA) – The supreme leader of Afghanistan’s Taliban-run caretaker administration, Hibatullah Akhundzada, called for interaction with the world community and encouraged companies to invest in the country, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported.
“We want to have interaction with the world community. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will not allow anyone to interfere in its internal affairs, but is ready to interact with the international community under the Sharia (Islamic law),” the supreme leader said in his speech, at a gathering held in Kandahar on Thursday.
More than 3,000 people, including tribal elders, religious scholars and ranking officials, attended the one-day gathering, to discuss issues including ensuring good governance, fighting poverty and winning international recognition of the administration that marked its first anniversary on Aug 15.
The leader also called to encourage companies to invest in the war-torn country, saying, he instructed the economic commission of the cabinet to facilitate a conducive environment for investment in all fields, including banking, mining and agriculture, to stabilise the economy.
He also called upon the judiciary to ensure justice in settling issues and apply Sharia or Islamic law equally to all.
Speaking on the occasion, the administration’s acting foreign minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, asserted, his country “wants good relations with all countries, but we cannot expect relations with some countries will be normalised quickly, after 20 years of war.”– NNN-ANA
