COLOMBO, Aug 11 (NNN-XINHUA) – Sri Lanka’s health experts, begun testing its citizens for Monkeypox, to identify if the virus had entered the country, a Health Ministry official said here, yesterday.
The official said that, the Health Ministry began conducting tests, after the World Health Organisation had provided the ministry with test kits for that purpose.
The tests were being carried out in the capital, Colombo and the central city of Kandy.
The Health Ministry said, it is yet to identify any cases of Monkeypox in the nation.
The World Health Organisation, last month officially declared that, the current multi-country monkeypox outbreak, outside of the traditional endemic areas in Africa, has already turned into a public health emergency of international concern.– NNN-XINHUA
