Bangladesh’s Inflation Hit Nine-Year High At 7.56 Percent

DHAKA, Jul 20 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh’s inflation increased to 7.56 percent in Jun, the highest rate in about nine years.

According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI), released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics yesterday, food inflation in the country rose to 8.37 percent in Jun, compared to 7.42 percent in the previous month.

Non-food items inflation, however, increased to 6.33 percent in Jun, from 6.08 percent in May, the data showed.

The Bangladeshi government, last month, announced the record, nearly seven trillion takas (about 76.18 billion U.S. dollars) national budget, for the 2022-23 fiscal year (Jul 2022-Jun 2023), and an average annual inflation rate of 5.6 percent for the fiscal year.– NNN-BSS
