Covid-19: Two more riders positive at Tour de France

PARIS, July 19 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Two more Tour de France riders have tested positive for the coronavirus, but may be able to continue the race, the world governing body UCI said.

The two tests came from mandatory tests for all teams around Monday’s rest day.

The UCI did not give names, saying only that the two were not among the top 20 of the overall standings.

According to this year’s Tour de France coronavirus rules, riders can continue the race if they are completely asymptomatic, and additional security measures such as isolating the riders have been implemented.

The UCI said a final decision would be made Tuesday ahead of the 16th stage.

Poland’s Rafal Majka and Bob Jungels of Luxembourg were able to continue the Tour under these rules.

Other riders had to withdraw and six could even start the Tour after positive tests. — NNN-AGENCIES
