WELLINGTON, Jul 17 (NNN-AGENCIES) – New Zealand reported 6,223 new community cases of COVID-19 today, said the Ministry of Health in a statement.
The ministry also reported 733 current hospitalisations, including 16 cases in ICU or HDU, and 22 deaths from COVID-19 today.
In addition, there were 270 new cases of COVID-19 that have recently travelled overseas, according to the ministry.
The case, death and hospitalisation numbers of COVID-19 emphasised the importance of everybody doing the basics well, to help prevent infection and serious illness, said the ministry.
New Zealand has reported 1,490,606 confirmed cases of COVID-19, since the beginning of the pandemic.
New Zealand is currently under the orange settings of the COVID-19 Protection Framework, where there is no limit for gatherings.– NNN-AGENCIES
